Internationalisation

The interface is translated, and the language of a document follows the customer rather than the user who raised it.

• Over 40 interface languages, chosen per user.
• A language per customer and vendor, used for their documents.
• A template set per language, so wording as well as labels is right.
• Date and number formats per user.
• Any currency, with its own precision.
• Country-specific charts of accounts, including GIFI where it applies.
• UTF-8 throughout, so names and addresses survive intact.

Languages in three places

1. The interface language is per user, in System › Preferences, along with the date and number formats.
2. Document languages are defined in System › Languages; each one gets its own template set under System › Templates.
3. Each customer and vendor carries a language on their record, and their invoices, orders and statements print from that template set. It can be overridden per document from the selector at the foot.

Translating what things are called

1. Goods & Services › Translations and Projects › Translations hold a description per language for parts, groups and projects, so a German customer’s invoice lists the part in German.
2. The same mechanism renames the interface: a locale can translate “Customers” to “Students” or “Members” for a school or a club. Ask us and we add a locale for your dataset.
3. The interface ships in 46 languages; each user picks theirs in Preferences.
