Backup

We back the server up off-site eight times a day, and you can take your own copy at any moment without asking us.

• Download a full backup of your dataset from the dashboard, on demand.
• The backup is a PostgreSQL dump — restorable anywhere, by anyone.
• Eight off-site backups a day on top of that, kept encrypted.
• Backups can be emailed rather than downloaded.
• Restore a dataset from your own file if you need to roll back.

Taking a copy

1. Open the control panel dashboard, find the dataset and press Backup. A PostgreSQL dump is prepared and downloaded, or emailed if you prefer.
2. To restore, send us the file or upload it from the same place; the dataset is replaced as at the moment of the dump.
3. Our own off-site backups run eight times a day regardless.

From inside the application

1. System › Backup › Save to File downloads a SQL dump of the dataset through the browser; Send by E-Mail mails it to the address in your Preferences.
2. To restore elsewhere: create an empty database, load the dump with psql, and copy the templates folder alongside. That is all a SQL-Ledger dataset is.
